Japanease anime clips or English version in an Abridged series
This has been flowing in my mind because , everybody should know by now in a couple months or the summer I am planning on a digimon abridged based series. I have been wondering in everyones opinion is the american edition or japanease version better to use in abridging?

Is it the situation, episode being parodied, or other. Just wondering so everybody what's your opinion? Also honestly this will be one my last threads for a long time.

So long as your footage doesn't have subtitles or a watermark, then no one cares.

RE: Japanease anime clips or English version in an Abridged series
You can do a good series based on something that never had an English dub or the Japanese canon of something that got slaughtered in translation, but the plain fact is, more often than not, the audience you're playing to will find the English version more instantly recognizable and relatable. Ultimately, you've just gotta do whatever feels right for you.

And if it sucks, then your instincts are bad and you should feel bad.

RE: Japanease anime clips or English version in an Abridged series
Just getting opinions, basically saying is the american edition version I mean't as english. Like I'm saying is it good at times to use a Japanease version of one episode of an anime vs American like pre editted(what I call american like editted for american "eyes") or not editted(Japanease as I called or uncut) is one thing.

So basically is an American edition used for abrdging ,or using for an episode or two a Japanease edition. Just is sometime using the humor of what was in the scene, or jsut goign with Americna edition.

Alright, I think I understand what he's getting at.

For a show like Yugioh that has tons of scenes edited out, or scenes that were just edited (i.e., invisible guns) should you use the original, unedited Japanese or the English, edited, dub?

Both are probably identical when it comes to quality. If you're talking about the difference between 4Kids censoring and the original footage though, that's your choice. Either way, I recommend you buying the BDs, whether it's been licensed in America or not.

Use Japanese full episodes.

Make fun of the american edits and bans.

That's my abridged answer (I am so funny, laugh at my joke)

I think that only works for kid shows and certain other shows that have been legit edited. Like I would enjoy seeing a One Piece parody that uses both the Funimation and 4Kids footage together as one.

You want some real fun, go to some asian store and buy an anime dvd. They're cheap and subbed in China, the result of that is damn hilarious.

RE: Japanease anime clips or English version in an Abridged series
Seems like making fun of dubs/editting is becoming a good idea. But seems if it's a crazy dub/edit sort of becoming early lkish. Which seems good because I mena almost every anime has there editted moments (yugiohs invisible guns, pokemons Tentacroll episode , and well can't think of anymore).

RE: Japanease anime clips or English version in an Abridged series
Most shows, like Infinite Stratos, or Code Geass, have very little to no editing. Rather than language that is used, so I see no difference in using English or original edited. But, many shows, like One Piece, or Yu-Gi-Oh, often times have been edited. So, it largely depends on what kind of humor you would like. If you want to be making fun of the invisible guns thing, get the American. If you don't, get the Japanese. *Especially the episode where James from Pokemon cross dresses as a woman, boobs and all.*

In short, it just depends on you and what you want. I, for instance, have both Japanese and American edited for my parody series, so, you can even go that route. Like the saying says, "Why not both?"

I assumed those were the shows we were talking about. If we're talking about just anime in general, this entire discussion is pointless.
