Its the little things in life.
So with the Unpopular opinnion thread and the fucking frustrations thread...

Here's a thread so people can list the good little things in life...

I'm pretty sick right now, like sicker than I've been in a long time; and today is the second day in a row I've called in sick. So my boss told me "Hey, when you're sick your sick, I don't want you to get me sick either, stay home and get some training done and we'll pay you for three hours"

I bought cookies, and now my cookie jar on my desk is restocked.

Probably for not much longer but it's nice.

My Blu-ray of Nightcrawler (my favourite movie of 2014) shows up tomorrow, and I intend to watch it tomorrow. I also have my follow up job interview for a place that wants to hire me and that's all you need to know about it, so that's pretty good!

I like this thread.

RE: Its the little things in life.
Ultrasound results confirm I don't have cancer. :-D

EDIT: I should have prefaced this as I wasn't clear at all and I feel bad for unintentionally misleading y'all. I never actually had cancer. I felt a lump where the Doc said I shouldn't. Doc wasn't sure what it was either so I got an ultrasound. Ultrasound confirmed what I have is not cancer but probably something I can wish away with an antibiotic.

It had me on edge for the past couple weeks, however, worrying that it might have been something very serious.

The fact that I'm better than mattroks101 at Beat Hazard and there's nothing he can do about it.

Also, good to hear, Anax!

I was granted a $500 scholarship to go to classes this semester, and that means I won't be totally broke while I'm going to college.

RE: Its the little things in life.
(Related to Anax's post) I happen to be "that guy" who'd think I have brain cancer every time I feel dizzy, lung cancer every time I cough, etc. I know, it's lame. But these thoughts have always terrified me. However, one time though, It got pretty serious. I had all the symptoms of having colon cancer (or something similar). I saw blood where there shouldn't be any blood. There was blood, but there was no pain, meaning there was no external injury. I felt weaker by the day. I went to the family doctor, he referred me to a specialist, and the specialist gave me a date to do Colonoscopy (that date was almost 2 months after). I wouldn't even hear the results any time soon. I'd have to take another appointment with the specialist, which could've happened after 2 more months, to sit and discuss the results (Free health care YAY!). I said screw it, and I never went for the Colonoscopy. I told myself that I was going to die soon (Again, I know, lame) and even mentally prepared myself for that. It all happened last year. Not too long ago.

The symptoms slowly started going away. I started getting stronger at the gym too, which was a good sign. Everything sort of fixed itself. Now, I feel fine. I still don't know what happened that time, but it was a scary time.

Sorry for the long rant. I read Anax's post and felt like sharing my lame experience with y'all. As for the little things in life, I'd say it's the "tea time" I have in the afternoon with my family. It's more than just drinking tea. It's the time when everyone in the family sits together, talk about "stuff", share our stories, and of course, drink tea. We've had this "tea time" pretty much since I was a kid, and I still love it. Really refreshing!

I refuse to be constantly bullied by Truthordeal just because I'm a "Junior" Mod.

RE: Its the little things in life.
Just to the whole think we may have cancer thing, I had a lump checked out a few months ago, and I have to say, it's pretty fucking scary. Turned out completely fine, but there's nothing like that first week going, "Oh shit. Maybe this is something I have to tell all my friends about".

RE: Its the little things in life.
Expect me to post quite a bit in this thread. It's actually going to help very much with my depression (which is small thing #1). Most of my posts are probably going to be acne-related, as I'm finally in the final steps of making severe cystic acne go away.

Tony (FoulFangedFiend) and I have basically set in stone that our priorities are to get into NFTS, and to create our necessary content for the applications. This is a good thing, because I personally wasn't quite sure. So, it's nice to have someone else say it with (or maybe even for) me.

RE: Its the little things in life.
For about six months I had this terrible job selling insurance. It was fucking stressful. I spent most of my time getting yelled at by ignorant old people or bitched at by younger old people who thought they knew more than me. I went almost two months without getting paid, despite working 50 hour+ weeks, because I was paid on commission and my workplace spent all of two days teaching me how to do the job. The last month or so was pretty ok, though, because after my granddad died and I didn't get as much as a text of condolences from any of my coworkers I realized the entire situation was bullshit and spent my time at work dicking around on the computer for ten hours a day. I also only started showing up two to three days a week because all of the other agents were out doing business that I had set up for them weeks before and the office was empty four days a week.

Yes, I realize this is the little things in life thread. Bear with me, all of this bitching has a point.

Suffice it to say, that was a pretty shitty time in my life, and at the time I had this ringtone set as my alarm clock. I have a shitty Net10 phone and this was one of the built in default ringtones, so I can't find it anywhere to show you. It's a nice enough song, but the fact that it was the first thing I heard every morning and thus the thing that reminded me most about that insurance job ended up making me anxious any time it rang.

But about October of last year, I jokingly bought a ton of "commercial" ringtones from Net10, including everyone's favorite gay-guy song Careless Whisper. I put it as my alarm clock when I was on vacation this past Fall as a lark, and it has just been awesome for me. I solely attribute the fact that Careless Whisper is my ringtone as the reason that my mood has improved considerably in the few months since then.

And of course, a better mood means I've been far less tempted to strangle some ig'nant high schoolers, which is a positive for me professionally.

Went to all my college classes this week after being in a rather bad place for the past month and scarcely attending any. Finally feels like I'm back on my feet. Rock
