Writing for the sake of writing.
So the past couple of days I've been in a bit of a rut, thinking about what to do next, and where I wanna go.

and one of the thoughts was "Just pick something and write a script."

does anyone else do this? It feels like a waste of time.

RE: Writing for the sake of writing.
I usually map my idea(s) out and i try em out. If i get a full script or a good amount of a script, i try and get it out.

Honestly, that's part of the reason I did that short Overlord parody. I just really wanted to make something. I've more ideas for other parodies now and feel it was very beneficial for me. It was nice to just MAKE something. Spur of the moment, no planning. Something I've never done before.

It's just like any other creative writing exercise! You may or may not complete an episode, but you can try out some new ideas and get the creative juices flowing. I have a folder just for random ideas and scripts in various stages of completion.

Definitely keep writing. It's probably the most informative thing you can do. The worst thing you get in return is ideas. I've written scripts I know I'm never going to produce, but sometimes you get a joke or concept that you can transfer into something else. I think it's a very worthwhile practice even if nothing comes of it.
