FSS Bleach Abridged
Howdy, abridgers. I'm Xelrog, the creator of Fourth Seat Studios, a small bunch of abridgers and streamers who you don't have to be ashamed of having never heard of. We've been doing our Bleach Abridged series for some months now, but I recently learned of this lovely little forum and thought I'd drop into the community here.

About the Series
Me and my friend and co-writer, Jack Anderson, have been kicking around ideas for the series for years, and finally bit the bullet and started things off late last year. We did a local casting call and recruited a small troupe of actors, did some recording, and with my basic college knowledge of Adobe software, finally made it happen. Production has been slow, given that I was the one doing all of the non-acting work for the first two episodes, with Jack taking over sound design for episode 3, but we're still chugging along and episode 4 is now in production.

We're not fans of the rapid-fire style that other abridged series use to get by Content ID, and so we've had some problems with YouTube. As a result, the actual episodes are only viewable on alternative hosting sites. We've got bloopers, production videos, and our occasional podcast, The Fourth Seat, all uploaded to YouTube as extras, though.

I'm interested to hear any feedback from you guys. Some things to bear in mind, though: Episodes 1-4 were all written before recording, and most of the recording was done in a single session, so any big changes aren't likely to happen until 5+. This has also been a learning experience to us, as is hopefully noticeable from the leap in quality from episode 1 to 2 to 3. Episode 3 was Jack's first time doing sound design, meaning hopefully 4 will be another leap forward.

This is usually a sign that you're too fandubby, as in less of a parody and more of a dub with added swearing. I watched your third episode. It was very 10 minutes long.
This isn't uncommon or even wrong as it's all up to you m80. But I for one don't like these fandubs with lip flaps which seem to have become the norm.

The answer is simple. Don't care so much. Talk in a funny voice and try to make your friends laugh. Use that material rinse and refuck. Also improv, take two characters voiced by different people and record them together and just try and make each other laugh. Tis what I do and I'm the funniest guy on the whole internet.

RE: FSS Bleach Abridged
If you think it's too much straight adaptation and not enough jokes, that's something I can take to heart and work on, but I can tell you that a complete reversal in style is not up for consideration. We're very adamantly against the kind of "lolrandom" humor you're talking about. The rapidfire shtick only carries something so far, which in my opinion is not very. DBZ Abridged does none of what you're talking about. It's just a well-written satire, and there's a reason it's successful.

In my experience, it's (sadly) been the super fast, no-fucks-given, throw-everything-and-not-care-what-sticks stuff that's become the norm, like None Piece, but you probably have more experience watching abridged series than I do, so I guess I'll take your word there.

As for random improv conversations... well, we do plenty of those during recording, if you're interested. They usually make it into blooper reels.

Thanks for the input, in any case. It's much appreciated.

Ah I didn't realize you were a comedic writer with integrity. I apologize for my lesser ways of thinking none piece is funny.
